PJM Issues Hot Weather Alert as Forecasted Peaks Push Toward 163 GW
On July 13, PJM issued a Hot Weather Alert for its entire footprint, covering July 14 and 15, ahead of forecasted 90-plus-degree temperatures across the region.
As of 10 a.m. Monday, PJM expects to serve approximately 151,105 MW on July 14, climbing to 162,699 MW on July 15, with 160,893 MW and 154,942 MW projected for July 16 and 17.
The alert lands less than two weeks after PJM served an estimated all-time peak of 168,158 MW on July 2 — topping the previous record of 165,563 MW that had stood since August 2, 2006.

A Hot Weather Alert is a preparedness posture, not an emergency action. It signals transmission and generation personnel to defer non-essential maintenance, verify unit availability, and prepare facilities for sustained high loads.
