NERC's Large-Load Clock Is Ticking: Alert Responses Due August 3
NERC has told FERC it is accelerating its Large Load Action Plan. In its filing in Docket RM26-4-000, NERC committed to updating its registry criteria and developing an initial Reliability Standard covering large loads.
The near-term pressure point is already on the calendar. NERC issued a Level 3 Essential Action Alert earlier this year, and responses from listed registered entities are due August 3, 2026.
The longer horizon: NERC intends to file revised registry criteria and Reliability Standards on or before December 31, 2026. This is moving in parallel with FERC's large-load rulemaking under RM26-4.
