FERC's June Deadline Arrives on Large-Load Interconnection Reform
FERC put itself on a clock. On its Priority Rulemakings list, the Commission committed to act by June 2026 on Docket No. RM26-4-000, the proceeding addressing how large loads interconnect to the interstate transmission system.
The docket opened from an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking directed by the Secretary of Energy. It targets loads generally greater than 20 MW — the data centers and other large new demand reshaping interconnection queues.
That deadline lands this month. Whatever the Commission issues sets the federal baseline for how RTOs and transmission providers study, time, and equitably integrate these loads.
