What is included, syllabus & completion

A new operator can memorize the vocabulary and still hesitate when the one-line, alarms, limits, and field reports stop agreeing.

This course builds the operating picture underneath those decisions. Learners connect grid physics, equipment state, functional responsibility, communications, and verification so the next action is based on system evidence—not a remembered definition.

What learners will be able to do

  • Trace the electric system from resource to customer and distinguish the full system from the defined Bulk Electric System footprint.
  • Use voltage, current, impedance, MW, Mvar, and MVA to explain equipment loading and system behavior.
  • Match RC, BA, TOP, GOP/GO, TO, and DP responsibilities to a stated operating condition without treating the roles as a corporate hierarchy.
  • Interpret frequency, Reporting ACE, interchange, generation, storage, and transmission flow together.
  • Read a one-line, challenge stale or contradictory topology, and separate display status from isolation and a personnel-protection clearance.
  • Select condition-specific voltage and reactive-power responses within stated capability, electrical location, plan, and authority.
  • Interpret protection, reclosing, backup clearing, breaker-failure, and Misoperation evidence.
  • Close oral two-party and written or burst Operating Instructions with the protocol appropriate to the communication method.
  • Write factual logs and transfer unfinished control loops during shift turnover.

What is included

  • 7 structured modules and 27 learner-visible lessons.
  • 9 original teaching boards built for one-lines, disturbances, voltage, protection, communications, roles, decision-making, and turnover.
  • Worked examples and commit-before-reveal retrieval practice in every teaching and review lesson.
  • 6 mandatory five-question module checks plus a 20-question final assessment.
  • 50 unique scored scenarios with item-specific rationales, distractor explanations, official-source links, and targeted remediation.
  • An EPG Solutions completion certificate after course requirements are met.
