Product details

A relay trip tells the operator that something happened; it does not, by itself, tell the operator that restoration is safe.

This course gives control-room personnel a practical view of protection, RAS/SPS, UFLS, UVLS, and manual load shedding. The focus is not relay engineering. It is the operating work after an automatic action: reconstruct the event, protect the remaining system, communicate clearly, preserve evidence, and restore deliberately.

Understand the event before restoration

  • Read relay, breaker, zone, and equipment-isolation indications in context.
  • Recognize RAS/SPS, UFLS, UVLS, and manual load-shed implications.
  • Coordinate RC, TOP, BA, field, and protection personnel.
  • Document what operated, what remains at risk, and what must be verified next.

Course contents

8 modules, 23 learner-visible lessons, 8 scored quizzes, and 42 formal questions. Relay-trip, automatic-scheme, and load-shedding scenarios are included with a mastery lab, downloadable quick reference, and completion certificate.

Best fit

Transmission, balancing, and reliability operators, control-room trainees, supervisors preparing emergency drills, and protection, field, and operations teams building shared language.

Delivery: self-paced course access for 365 days. Department cohorts can be coordinated with EPG Solutions.

Operator-awareness training. It does not replace relay settings, protection studies, approved load-shed plans, equipment procedures, or real-time authority direction.

Representative decision drill

Interpret a relay or RAS indication, distinguish expected action from misoperation risk, and decide whether UFLS/UVLS or manual load action is credible.

  • A current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari with cookies and JavaScript enabled.
  • A stable internet connection, an email account you can access, and speakers or headphones for courses containing video.
