After a relay, RAS, UFLS/UVLS, or manual load-shed action, the control room has evidence—not a complete conclusion.

This course teaches operators to reconstruct what happened, test the indicated cause against system behavior, assess the new state, communicate through the correct path, preserve the record, and restore only through approved gates.

What you will practice

Build a trip picture from breaker states, relay targets, zones, synchronized sequence-of-events data, and current system conditions.
Separate the NERC-defined Protection System from the wider tripping chain and field-work clearance process.
Confirm RAS status, triggers, actual actions, effectiveness, and adverse or unintended response.
Use program-specific evidence for UFLS and UVLS without inventing universal stages or thresholds.
Execute manual load shed through the current approved plan, assigned authority, equipment limits, and the applicable EOP-011 phase.
Apply COM-002 and IRO-001 communication boundaries, then verify execution as a separate operating step.
Carry facts, inferences, unknowns, evidence owners, hold points, and restoration gates through turnover.

Course package

Nine concise modules, 25 learner pages, 15 purpose-built teaching boards with text equivalents, seven module checks, and a 10-scenario final assessment: 45 scored questions total. Learners also receive a four-page fillable Protection, RAS, UFLS/UVLS & Load Shedding Operator Record for initial work, source/model comparison, revision, and handoff practice.

Mastery: 80% on each module check and 100% on the safety- and authority-critical final assessment. Plan approximately 7-9 hours for a careful first pass.
